Tyler Furman, ASA

Co-CTO

From an early age, I developed a passion for logic and design, which naturally led me to excel in mathematics during school. Whether it was preparing my clothes, organizing school supplies, or tackling puzzles, I was always thinking ahead and finding joy in problem-solving. In my senior year of high school, my father encouraged me to pursue actuarial science, a field that perfectly combined my love for problem-solving and strategic thinking.

By the end of my junior year in college, I had passed two actuarial exams, which helped me secure an internship at Mercer in their pension evaluation department. This experience not only honed my analytical skills but also highlighted the importance of professionalism and adaptability in the workplace.

After graduation, I joined Swiss Re’s life and annuities valuation department, where I identified opportunities to improve team workflows. One of my proudest achievements was designing and implementing a data validation system that combined rigor with flexibility. This tool became a standard part of our team’s workflow and set the foundation for my passion for automation and process optimization.

This passion led me to a new role at Pacific Life, focusing on data processing and automation. Here, I deepened my expertise in software development and data engineering, gaining confidence in building scalable solutions and designing larger software structures.

These experiences culminated in co-founding Nice Technologies, a company dedicated to transforming the actuarial modeling industry. The co-founders and I draw from our own challenges in the field to create tools that address modern actuarial problems and make modeling not only efficient but enjoyable. Our goal is to build the software we wish we had during our careers—software that could have saved us countless late nights in the office.

Outside of work, I’m an optimist who values family, friendship, and life’s simple joys. I love spending time with my husband, Jason, and our golden retriever, Winston. We are currently working towards expanding our family through adoption and eagerly look forward to the adventures ahead. In my free time, I’m a huge nerd for crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. I also enjoy spending quality time with friends—whether it’s catching up on life, watching shows, or playing video games, board games, or D&D.
